Ok so this may seem like a strange question, but when is a reborn not a reborn?

For me the answer is simple.

It is when they are not hand painted, when they are unique and individual.

When they are made in a factory that makes each doll the same as the one before.

If the dolls look so obviously like dolls, making it clear that they are simply dolls.

Reborn

A reborn is a work of art doll, it is a labour of love from the artists.

True reborns last for years and still look the same.

In fact there is so much involved with the making of a true reborn which is why it can not just be painted by a machine in a warehouse or factory.

In fact now when I search . at babies for sale I skip straight passed all the pages of China or Japan dolls.

I do feel a little sorry for any genuine artists from either of these countries because most people looking for real vinyl reborns or silicone dolls will completely pass by any doll listed as coming from China or Japan.

So to summarise it all, to me the China dolls and Japan dolls are not reborns, they do not even look like anything but shop brought dolls.

So lets keep the real dolls what they are and allow this industry to grow again.
